Ephedrine, is a powerful stimulating herb that is often found in arid regions. Alternate naming of Ephedrine: Mormon Tea, Ma Huang, Squaw Tea, and Herbal Ecstasy. The use of Ephedrine was begun by the east Asian peoples of China more then five thousand years ago. Used to treat the afflictions of the lungs and as a stimulating drug. The main active chemical compound responsible for increases in heart rate, body temperature, and blood pressure is a beta-adrenergic agonist. There are several different strains of Ephedrine, each containing a different concentration. The Chinese family being the more potent.

Ephedrine is generally used to treat common colds, asthma, and to clear congested bronchial tubes; as well as stimulate metabolism. Research conducted has shown that it has significant advantageous properties for athletes. Some of which are are weight loss, metabolizing fat, and muscle maintenance.

Athletes have supplementated with ephedrine in many reasons. Ephedrine not only promotes the breakdown of fat cells, but also stimulates the biochemistry of muscles, while enhancing performance.

Ephedrine is also a common ingredient in cold medicines and can help asthmatics and those who suffer from bronchial ailments (cough or congestion).

Ephedrine supplement weight loss pills have been the subject of FDA research in recent years. A number of states have banned it, with others following suit because the molecular structure of Ephedrine closely resembles methamphetimine. Moreover, some have abused Ephedrine in quantity, attempting to yield a "high" from the product. Supplementing Ephedrine is not recommended if you suffer from high blood pressure, heart problems, or thyroid problems.

Side effects may include: irregular heart rate, elevated blood pressure, dizziness, headache, heart attack, stroke, seizure psychosis, death.
